Endologix Inc. Obtains Patent for AAA Catheter

The United States Patent Office has issued Endologix Inc. (Irvine, CA) a patent for the company’s Dual Lumen Catheter. The catheter is a key component in the use of the Endologix PowerLink System, a minimally invasive means of treating abdominal aortic aneurysms. Professor G. Coppi of Modena, Italy, recently performed a live demonstration of the PowerLink System during the Paris Course on Revascularization. The patient left the operating room after a successful 24-minute procedure. Professor Coppi commented that the “device is the only single-piece system with integral support. This unique design provides for rapid delivery and the device naturally adapts a stable position within the aorta thanks to the self-expanding endoskeleton.” Endologix will soon complete enrollment in an FDA phase II pivotal study for its technology and has already completed enrollment and clinical follow-up in Japan.
